Advocacy

RPCVs have some unique perspectives on society and advocacy is a way to express those perspectives

Under the guidance of advocates from  National Peace Corps Association  (NPCA), our major effort to date has been meeting with the Rhode Island congressional delegation to enlist their support in keeping Peace Corps funding at present levels in the 2018 budget. Although we anticipated that they would be supportive, we believed our face-to-face meetings with them would show them how strongly we felt about this issue.

We would like to expand our advocacy to state and local issues, e.g., immigration and civil rights. We welcome suggestions from RI RPCVs as to what topics they might like to see addressed. Remember, advocacy requires action; it means doing something. Therefore, we encourage you to join us in advocacy.
